Strategy

The foundation of successful UX. I start by understanding the product, the application for the site, why we are creating it, who are we doing this for, why people are willing to use it, and why they need it. The goal here is to define the user needs and business objectives.
Stakeholder Interviews

What are the risks?
Competitor Research
Who are their competitors?
What is their market?
What are their strengths?
What are their weaknesses?
How can we stand out?
User Interviews
What do users want?
Who are the primary users?
What are their objectives?
What is their background?
What are their pain points?

Scope

Once I understand the business objectives and user needs I work with the stakeholders to finalize the scope. This includes the features and content contained in the application or product. From there I work on defining the requirements. The requirements are considered done when they fulfill and are aligned with the strategic goals.

Structure

Once the scope & requirements are defined I create the interactions for the system functionality, response, and how information is organized. This allows me to outline how users will interact with the product, how the system behaves when users interact, and how it's prioritized.

Skeleton

I then sketch each screen of the system to present the areas of interactions & information. I determine the visual form on the screen, presentation and arrangement of all elements that make users interact with the functionality.

Surface

After taking in all the research and decisions I start the final visual presentation. I make sure to keep my designs in line with visual foundation best practices.
